Subject: About Next Month’s Book Club Selection
Dear Maria,
Thank you for telling me about your difficulty with the novel. I understand why its older language and long chapters may make it hard to read.
Unfortunately, we cannot change the book for the next meeting. The other members already voted for it, several people have bought copies, and the discussion leader has prepared questions. Changing it now would be unfair and confusing for the group.
However, several online resources may help you. You could read a free chapter summary before each section, use an online dictionary for unfamiliar words, or listen to the audiobook while following the text. I can also send you the discussion questions early so you know which ideas are most important.
