In my view, high schools should limit technology and keep traditional teaching at the center of the classroom. Digital devices provide information, but they also bring games, messages, and social media into every lesson. Even responsible students may lose focus when notifications appear. Frequent device use can also reduce discussion, handwriting practice, and face-to-face communication. These basic skills remain important in college and at work. Teachers can use a shared screen for a useful video or demonstration without giving every student a phone or tablet all day. Paul suggests training teachers, but teachers cannot watch every screen at the same time. Technology should be used only when it has a clear learning purpose, not simply because it is new.
